American Goldfinch's bright yellow feathers are beautiful, and I love seeing that flash of yellow perched beside the alien-purple thistles and other wild plants.

I wanted this painting to feel like a little glimpse into a wild summer field rather than a perfectly manicured garden. The kind of place where everything is growing into everything else, birds are moving through the stems, and the flowers are attracting all sorts of tiny creatures.
