My current work-in-progress on the easel featuring a Monarch Butterfly and Goldenrod
It's starting to feel like fall in my artist studio with my next collection of paintings well underway.
Save the date for Friday, November 7, 2025... when I’ll be releasing this new collection!
This new series series of paintings is a love letter to the fall season.
Goldenrod field
Fall feels more introspective and quiet, filled with rich colors like bright goldenrod and dark wet leaves on the ground.
It’s a season of slowing down and looking back.
The pace of summer has cooled now and the fall gives us an invitation to sink into stillness and watch the world change around us.
Even the light of autumn is so different from summer. Summer light is bright and direct, while fall light seems to dip everything in deep amber. Even the shadows stretch longer and darker.
It’s beautiful, and I hope to capture that feeling in paint!
Andrew and I went for a Sunday morning hike so I could gather photo references for the next painting. We found everything I had hoped for: goldenrod fields alive with insects, pokeweed dripping with dark berries, and a pair of Downy Woodpeckers working the bark of a tree right next to the path.
The trail was damp from a day of rain. Our shoes pressed softly into the ground and released the sweet smell of wet leaves and mud. It was lovely and left me feeling deeply inspired.
Pokeweed berries
Many of the photos from that hike will be used as painting references for this new collection.
